SUMMER MUSIC SERIES: Lisa Jane Lipkin & Jay Hitt

Lisa Jane Lipkin is a piano-playing songstress with a folk-edged, soul-tinged, jazz-inflected, and very poetic take on life. Once dubbed a cross between Diana Ross and Joni Mitchell, Lipkin was weaned on the Beatles & Beethoven, cut her teeth on Dylan & The Who, was schooled in Ella Fitzgerald and Cat Stevens all the while keeping an eye forward with songs that ring of ardent soul-searching & hard-won universal truths.

Singer-songwriter, Jay Hitt, has a talent for vivid storytelling combined with a breezy voice and crisp acoustic melodies making it easy to see why he so effortlessly touches the hearts of his fans. Twice named “Best Acoustic Musician” in the Pittsburgh City Paper, Hitt won Best Song in the Canadian Narrative Music contest for “Tracy Loves Ray” and was awarded Honorable Mention for his song “Through The Window” among other awards & credits. His CD “Gentle Persuader” was named one of the top ten CD’s of the year by WYEP in Pittsburgh.
