Temps Below Normal For January In The Hudson Valley

Bundle up everyone including the pets. Here's the latest.

Highs below the January normal: that's how cold it is. It's so cold the National Weather Service warned that Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties might have patchy black ice on walkways and poor drainage areas.

For everyone, the NWS says:

Dry and very cold conditions will continue today as the center of high pressure moves overhead. This will allow winds to diminish throughout the day. Despite this, wind chill values will still be very cold, especially in the morning, with single digits and teens above zero reading expected. The warmest wind chill values will be this afternoon, in the teens and 20s, while actual highs today will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s. These highs are below normal, even for January.
Another cold night is expected tonight, under mostly clear skies early tonight and light winds. This will allow outlying areas to drop well into the teens, while lows elsewhere will drop into the 20s. Temperatures are expected to remain steady or rise slight after midnight as an increase in cloud cover is expected.
Warmer, yet still well below normal temperatures are forecast for Thursday, with highs in the upper 30s and 40s.
