Bagel World Park Slope Shuttered For Mice, Flies: Health Dept.
The Fifth Avenue bagel shop was given 64 violation points by health inspectors last week, records show.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN â A Fifth Avenue bagel shop has been shut down after health inspectors found flies, mice and other sanitary violations in the eatery, records show.
Bagel World Park Slope, found at 339 Fifth Ave. on the corner of Sixth Street, was closed by the city's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene after it received more than double the violation points that require inspectors shutter a business, records show.
The eatery was given 64 violation points last Thursday. Any score more than 28 points requires the department close a restaurant.

Inspectors visiting the restaurant found that there were "filth flies" and evidence of mice or live mice in the eatery, records show.
They also discovered that hot foods were not being kept at the proper temperature, that some food was contaminated and not thrown away and that food was not protected from potential contamination. The eatery was not vermin proof, did not have proper plumbing and had improperly made surfaces, records show.

Bagel World is advertises itself as a casual counter serving up handmade bagels, along with smoked fish, deli sandwiches and baked goods. The Park Slope spot is one of two locations the business has, including another in Fort Greene on Dekalb Avenue.
A call to the business went unanswered and did not connect to a message machine. The eatery did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment.
