Beloved Local Bakery Julien Boulangerie Abruptly Closes In Park Slope
The bakery chain Julien Boulangerie has abruptly closed all of its shops, including its Park Slope outpost.
PARK SLOPE, NY — A beloved French bakery has quietly disappeared from Park Slope, leaving neighbors wondering what happened.
Julien Boulangerie, a French bakery chain with four locations citywide, appears to have closed all of its shops with little warning.
The closure was first reported on social media by ParkSlopeLiving, which said owner Julien Khalaf confirmed the shutdown and described it as a difficult decision, though no immediate explanation was provided.

As of this week, Julien Boulangerie’s website had been taken down, and the phone number for its Park Slope location was disconnected.
Khalaf, who has offered few details about the sudden closure of Julien Boulangerie, recently teamed up with longtime friend Anthony Le Mezec to open a new bakery and café, Le Petit Paris, in Queens.
Le Petit Paris, located at 81-45 Lefferts Blvd. in Kew Gardens, opened at the end of last month in the building that had been home to Homestead Gourmet Shop for nearly 80 years. The bakery serves freshly made pastries, including classic croissants, pistachio and chocolate beignets, madeleines, and fruit tarts, along with savory offerings like sandwiches and quiches.
