Irreverent Real Estate: Hello world

Irrevererent Real Estate: Notes from the inside. Separating the sense from the nonsense.

Hello Readers!

I thought for my first post I would take a moment of your time to introduce myself. I work for The Corcoran Group on Park Slope's 7th Avenue helping people buy and sell homes successfully and enjoyably both here in Brooklyn, as well as in Manhattan. And while home buying and selling is an exciting, sometimes stress-provoking, and complex endeavor - it is not magic and not rocket science. I did it, and you can do it, and anyone who might make you feel that you cannot understand and contribute to any part of your own buying and selling process, if you want to, is either pulling the wool over your eyes or just being downright arrogant--nothing to be afraid of here.

Buying or selling a home is a lot like buying or selling anything else. There are a handful of tips I know that can make it easier, that are unique to real estate, and make it different than buying socks, let's say, and I'd be delighted to share those with you--and I will throught this blog, but really-- there’s nothing that can’t be understood by you if it is explained properly. Prices are ultimately set by the market for the most part, deals can be found if you know what to look for, marketing properly helps, and the personalities, attitudes, and feelings of the people involved can go a long way to making the exchange bumpier or smoother. So can dealing with an agent who guarantees total, scrupulous, transparent honestly to customers—but there’s a full blog entry about being a completely honest real estate agent coming up soon.

I'll be writing this blog with the hope that my advice or insight is enlightening or inspiring to you. My tone will be casual because I'm not trying to impress anyone and it’s more fun for me to write that way-- plus I feel that what I can offer to you mostly, through this blog, is my perspective as a friendly insider, and give you a sense of what sitting behind a desk in a real estate office is like. There are lots of books about real estate and the Corcoran website it full of helpful practical info for both buyers and sellers www.corcoran.com  so facts are readily available, but I hope to offer something a little more elusive: perspective-- and stories from my experience about how this thing really works.

I welcome all comments, flame out, go crazy, feel free to challenge me, or give me props, and I will respond promptly to any questions.  My office is easy to find, right smack in the middle of Park Slope, and I'm available to meet up to talk about whatever real estate questions you might have, any day. Hell, maybe you'll even decide you want me to work for you as an agent as we get to know each other better here. In the meanwhile I am at your service by phone or email if you are looking for info, answers, explanations or facts about topics more concrete than what you may find in these posts. Please feel free to check me out if you like at the Corcoran site. http://www.corcoran.com/agents/profile.aspx?userid=ACHACKERIA®ion=NYC
