Park Slope Jewelry Thief Nabs $62K In Goods From BK Homes: Cops
A burglar scored at least $62,000 worth of jewelry in a string of break-ins going back to December, authorities said

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A burglar forced his way into a Park Slope home and grabbed tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry. Then he did the same at five other homes over the next two months, police said.
The suspect's final haul from the burglary spree is at least $62,000 worth of jewelry, $5,000 of electronics and $400 cash, authorities said.
NYPD officers believe one man seen in a grainy surveillance video is at the heart of a pattern of break-ins.

The pattern repeated five more times, police believe.
The next burglary happened on Dec. 19, again in broad daylight — 3 p.m. — authorities said. The man broke the door to an apartment at 51 Fifth Ave., strode inside and grabbed about $3,000 worth of electronics and clothes.
Then after the New Year on Jan. 8 the same suspect damaged another lock — this time to an apartment at 167 Park Place — but couldn't make it inside an apartment, authorities said.
He was successful on Jan. 10, police said. That's when he broke open an 805 President St. apartment's door at about 12:10 p.m, they said. He grabbed a television, more jewelry and $300, authorities said.
On Jan. 21, the suspect went from Park Slope brownstones to a modest Boerum Hill apartment, authorities said. He forced open a 257 Smith St. apartment's front door and nabbed $2,000 worth of electronics from the home, police said.
The burglar moved back to Park Slope for the final stop on his spree, police said. He forced open the front door to a home near Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street and grabbed a jewelry box with $10,000 worth of jewelry inside, authorities said.
It's there that police got the surveillance video with the suspect.
