'Dine In Park Slope' Is Brooklyn's Answer To Restaurant Week

Only 9 of 400 spots featured in NYC Restaurant Week were in Brooklyn, so locals put together two weeks when more than 50 will offer deals.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Two weeks of happy hours and prix fixe menu deals across the neighborhood will set out to prove that Brooklyn's eating scene has more than just nine noteworthy restaurants to offer.

Dine In Park Slope, a 12-day event of restaurant discounts, will return for the second time as an answer to NYC Restaurant Week, which featured just nine Brooklyn spots in its 400-restaurant lineup. Of those picks, only one restaurant made it from Park Slope.

The neighborhood's version brings together more than 50 Park Slope spots — with more still signing up — to offer a range of menu deals.

Who: The event is put on by Park Slope Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District, North Flatbush Business Improvement District, the Park Slope Chamber of Commerce and Fourth on Fourth, a program of the Park Slope Civic Council, which means the restaurants participating will be spread throughout the neighborhood.

What: Deals range from a percentage off of happy hour drinks to full three-course meals for a set price.

Who: Here are some of the deals you can get and where to get them:

  • Benchmark: The only Park Slope spot that made it onto the city-wide restaurant week, this American and British eatery is giving out its prix fixe American and steakhouse menu to Dine-In Park Slopers, too.
  • Made In New York Jazz Cafe: Try out one of the neighborhood's newest spots. This jazz cafe, which is replacing Nargis Cafe on Fifth Avenue, isn't even open yet, but it will be in time for Dine-In Park Slope. The cafe is offering a free bottle of red or white wine for anyone who spends $75 or more on dinner.
  • Ovenly: This cafe is one of a few that will offer a "Pick Me Up Power Hour" deal, or a deal that lasts for an hour each day. Ovenly's deal is two for one cookies between 3 and 4 p.m. Other power hour offers include Doughnut Plant, which will give out a free coffee with any purchase.
  • Logan's Run: Some spots, like this cocktail bar, will give percentage discounts. At Logan's Run, you can get 15 percent off drinks when you mention Dine In Park Slope.
  • Le Mistral: Another similar choice to the classic restaurant week deals is this European cuisine spot. They will offer both lunch and dinner three-course menus for $28 and $45, respectively.

More deals will be announced closer to the event. The full list will be updated here.
