Japanese Ramen Chain Opens First NYC Location In Park Slope

The hugely-popular company has locations in Seattle, Canada and 20 across Japan.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A ramen chain that boasts lines out the door at its Seattle and Vancouver outposts has chosen Park Slope for its first location on the East Coast.

Ramen Danbo officially opened its Seventh Avenue spot on Monday after a soft opening over the weekend. Diners can enjoy customizable ramen made the same way as the chain's restaurants in Japan.

The company began with a single spot in 2000 and now operates 20 locations in Japan, two in Canada and one in Seattle.

"After placing number one in a TV poll of top ramen shops, from humble beginnings, the single shop became a chain and expanded quickly throughout Kyushu, then all over Japan," the restaurant said on its website.

The traditional Tonkotsu ramen is crafted in the Kyusha Hakata style, one of the most popular types in Japan. It can be ordered as is or customized with a long list of signature toppings.
