Joe's Pizza In Park Slope Closed By Health Inspectors
The Fifth Avenue pizzeria was shut down Monday when health inspectors found improperly stored food, city records show.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN â Health inspectors forced a Park Slope pizza joint to close this week after they found hazardous conditions, city records show.
Joe's Pizza of Park Slope at 349 Fifth Ave. was shut down Monday by Department of Health and Mental Hygiene officials who found improperly stored food not protected from contamination, records show.
The pizza joint earned 38 violation points for insufficient refrigeration, poor plumbing and improperly constructed counters, health inspectors said.

The restaurant had not reopened as of Friday afternoon, according to manager Rigo Cortes.
"We're trying to open again," said Cortes, who did not know when the pizzeria would be back in business. "We have a problem with the gas so we need to wait for the Building Department."

This is not the first time Joe's Pizza of Park Slope has butted heads with officials. A judge ruled in January that the Fifth Avenue pizzeria had to ditch its logo after a famous Greenwich Village slice joint claimed it was being copied.
