A New Restaurant Is Coming To Dale Talde's Spot In Park Slope
Restaurant owners from a Park Slope Mexican spot have filed for a liquor license in the 7th Ave. space once run by the celebrity chef.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN â The empty Seventh Avenue corner spot that held celebrity chef Dale Talde's eatery until a few months ago won't stay empty for long.
A new eatery has applied to move into the 369 Seventh Ave. storefront, found between 11th and 12th Street, records show. The new application comes a few months after the popular Asian-American restaurant Talde, run by the former 'Top Chef' contestant, closed its doors in January after seven years.
The incoming restaurant, named Casa Azul, has submitted a liquor license application that is currently making its way through the approval process.

Records show that the new spot plans to offer "modern oaxacan cuisine" and will be run by the former owners of Chiles y Chocolate, a now-closed Mexican spot that was found on the other end of Seventh Avenue between St. Johns and Lincoln Place.
Casa Azul will have 19 tables, a 15-foot bar and plan to apply for a sidewalk cafe, records show.

Community Board 6's Permits and Licensing Committee voted to support the liquor license application earlier this week and it will head to the full board during their meeting next Tuesday.
Patch was not immediately able to reach the new owners to learn more about the restaurant, but it seems they have named the spot after the Frida Kahlo Museum in Mexico City.
Although, the new Casa Azul should not be confused with another outpost that references the painter's former home-turned-museum. Owners at Bistro Casa Azul in Harlem told Patch that they are not affiliated with the Brooklyn Casa Azul.
Before it closed, Talde had been a popular spot for unique Asian and American cooking.
Dale Talde had risen to fame when he appeared on the TV show "Top Chef" â first in his native Chicago's run of the show in 2008 and then in the all-star's season in 2012. He opened Talde shortly after his second run on the show in 2012, along with partners John Bush and David Massoni of Three Kings Restaurant Group.
The chef told customers that it was "just time" to close after they began asking about the restaurant when its social media pages disappeared in the new year.
