Park Slope Gets Its Own Shelsky's Bagels
The Brooklyn bagel chain continues its mission of bringing classic delicatessens back to the borough with a second spot on 4th Avenue.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN -- Park Slopers won't have to travel to Cobble Hill anymore to enjoy Shelsky's critically-acclaimed bagels and deli offerings. Shelsky's Brooklyn Bagels has opened a second location on 4th Ave., serving up breakfast to hungry patrons for the first time on Monday.
The bagel chain -- which has had it's original location featured in Business Insider, Bon AppĂŠtit and other publications -- officially opened its doors at the new spot 6 a.m.. The company posted photos of its fresh bagels and waiting customers on its Twitter.
"Come and see us! #openingday #comecrushus" the post read.

One customer who enjoyed the new addition to 4th Ave. was City Councilman Brad Lander, who called the opening a "Hanukkah miracle." Lander suggested people stop in to the shop as they waited for delayed subway lines during Monday's morning commute.
"On the bright side, if youâre waiting for the F or G at 4th Ave 9th, you could stop by opening day @ShelskysBagels," he said. "I can confirm they are delicious."

Shelsky's has said they were inspired to start their business when they noticed the classic Jewish appetizing shops and delicatessen's were dwindling, and even missing, from the borough.
"From great restaurants to excellent cheese shops and other specialty food shops, Brooklyn is a foodie paradise," the company wrote on its website. "What has been missing though, is the appetizing shop and the delicatessen. Speaking to people around the brownstone Brooklyn, it became clear that like us, they were hankering for this food or yore, but they were sick of having to schlep to Manhattan to get it. So, we are excited to introduce Shelskyâs Of Brooklyn!"
