Park Slope's 'A Taste Of Fifth' Takes Another Bite
The food festival will run April 1, unless the coronavirus hits. And that's no April Fools' joke — if canceled, tickets will be refunded.
PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Get ready to nosh on fare from 40 of Park Slope's Fifth Avenue foodie favorites. Unless the party is spoiled by an unwanted guest — the coronavirus.
Tickets for Park Slope's fifth annual "A Taste of Fifth" are up for sale. A $60 ticket for the April 1 comes with all the food you can shovel in your mouth and alcohol you can quaff.
But face-focused events like a food festival may not be a good idea during a coronavirus outbreak. Fears over COVID-19 have already closed schools and prompted some perhaps long overdue subway wipe downs.

Lest the event turn into a literally sick April Fools' joke, A Taste of Fifth organizers the Park Slope Fifth Avenue BID are prepared to impose a quarantine on the whole affair.
"Should the coronavirus require us to cancel the event, we will refund your tickets in full," the organizers wrote to ticket holders.

The typical Park Sloper makes about $115,000 a year, according to the U.S. Census, so it's unlikely many ticket holders would have sweat $60.
But the refund gesture does come with a request that keeps the event's philanthropic focus — $20 of every ticket goes toward charity — intact.
"We will, however, ask whether you want to apply your $20 to the charity of your choice," organizers wrote.
Participating charities include several local schools, Brooklyn Pride, Old Stone House and more.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. in Grand Prospect Hall. It features more than 40 eateries, a local DJ, a Speakeasy with Breuckelen Distillery cocktails and a live band.
It is sponsored by Con Edison, Corcoran, Greenland USA, Brooklyn Cyclones, Yelp and Park Slope Parents.
