Bicyclist Dies After Long Island Hit-And-Run Crash

The man was riding his bicycle when he was hit by two cars, with the second driver fleeing the scene after striking him Sunday night.

NORTH PATCHOGUE, NY — A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash in North Patchogue on Sunday night, according to Suffolk Police. A man was riding a bicycle on North Ocean Avenue, just north of Vehslage Street, when he was struck by northbound Nissan SUV driven at 9 p.m., police said.

The man was then struck by a second car that fled the scene. The man, who has not yet been identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The driver of the Nissan was not injured. The Nissan was impounded for a check.
