The only thing that was holding the men's basketball team from standing head-to-head with Mount Saint Vincent was the hiccup against Elms. Take away that 89-79 loss in the finals of the Elms College Tournament, and the Golden Eagles would be undefeated, right next to MSV (10-0) atop the Skyline Conference standings.
For now, SJC (8-1) will have to settle for a three-way tie with MSV and Purchase, whom are also undefeated in conference action.
The Golden Eagles extended its win streak to six games, picking up three consecutive wins – two in conference matchups – against Old Westbury, SJC-Brooklyn and Yeshiva.

Speaking of draining three-pointers, junior Chris Jimenez set a school-record high for threes, when he hit 10 of them in SJC's 20-point comeback victory over Old Westbury. Jimenez also set a career-high in points, scoring 36.
The Golden Eagles will have their toughest contest of the season when they return to action on Jan. 4, when they take on one of their three-way tied opponents for Skyline supremacy, in Purchase (7-1).
Women's team finding its groove
After dropping three-consecutive games, and only winning one of its first six, the women's basketball team has finally emerged.
The Lady Eagles (3-5) won back-to-back games, defeating SJC-Brooklyn, 69-63, and dominating Yeshiva, 80-42.
Freshman Laura Cohen's career-high 17 points helped lead her team to its first conference win, in a dominating 38-point victory.
The victory over Yeshiva didn't only mean the women had back-to-back wins for the first time in the 2010-11 season, but it also marked their 12th consecutive win over Yeshiva.
The Lady Eagles offense was spread out with four double-digit scorers, but its defense is what solidified the victory, forcing Yeshiva to turn the ball over 27 times during the contest.
The women will try and push their win-streak to three, against John Jay, on Thursday, Dec. 30 at 3:00 p.m.
