DiCalogeros Receive Pride Award at Village Board Meeting

Owners of Express Stop and Shop are recognized at Village Board of Trustees meeting.

Attendees offered a warm applause for Patchogue Pride Award winners James and Rosa DiCalogero at Monday's Patchogue Village Board of Trustees meeting.

The award, presented by Village Attorney Brian Egan, was given to the DiCalogeros for their ownership and success of Express Stop and Shop, a convenience store on Clare Rose Boulevard in its first year of business.

The Jersey City natives moved to Port Jefferson last August to embark on their new journey.

“We were both in the apparel industry for about 30 years [but] because of the nature of the industry moving more and more overseas, we thought it was important to look into a business venture,” James DiCalogero said.

Adding three kids and one Labrador Retriever to the mix, the DiCalogeros have been very busy and have received a positive response from community members.

“We’ve had our hands full with the location and all, and people have been very supportive," Rosa said. "It’s become more of a family store and a lot of people are happy with that."
