LIBN: Artspace Gets $1.5 Million from County

Funding will be used partly to upgrade sidewalks, curbs and lighting in the area.

A $1.5 million check of county infrastructure funds was presented Wednesday to by Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy on Wednesday, reports Long Island Business News.

The funding will be used toward the artist community's solar panels, and to subsidize the cost of upgrading the sidewalks, curbs and lighting in the area issued a statement.

"Walkable, transit-oriented downtowns are one of the keys to our economic sustainability, and I have sought to support developmnts that bring residents and patrons into our downtown corridors," Levy said in a statement.

The Artspace community and consists of a 45-unit mixed use rental community, consisting primarily of artists.
