Patchogue Man Sentenced To Prison For Attempted 7-Eleven Robbery
The 50-year-old was arrested after trying to rob the store with a box cutter and fighting the two employees last year, the DA said.
CENTER MORICHES, NY - A Patchogue man was sentenced to 16 years to life in prison on Friday for attempting to rob a 7-Eleven in Center Moriches last year, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy D. Sini.
Joseph Allgood, 50, was convicted by a jury in June of two counts of second degree attempted robbery, the DA said. Due to his criminal history, he was deemed a mandatory persistent violent felony offender by the court and was sentenced by Suffolk County Court Judge Philip Goglas.
On October 31, 2018, Allgood entered the 7-Eleven on 632 Main Street, lunged at the clerk and demanded money from the register, the DA said.

When the attendant did not immediately comply, he grabbed for the register and started to fight the employee. During the fight, Allgood pulled out a box cutter and began to stab and slice the attendant.
Another employee came to help and Allgood began stabbing and biting both employees. One of the two picked up a pizza cutter and used it to cut Allgood's head until he finally released the box cutter.

During the altercation, a silent alarm was pressed notifying the police. Allgood was arrested at the scene and everyone was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
"There is no excuse for the reckless and dangerous behavior of this individual who injured innocent members of our community," Sini said. "I want to thank the detectives and prosecutors for their hard work. This is a significant sentence that serves justice for the victims and holds the defendant accountable for his despicable actions."
