  1. Stony Brook University officials criticized social media comments by the professor, Anna Hayward, against officers involved in the Medford shooting last week. According to officials, she used inappropriate language to express her opinions to the community. Read the story here. (Patch)
  2. A woman was hit by an SUV in East Patchogue on Thursday morning. The 62-year-old was walking on Sunrise Highway around 5 a.m. Sadly, she was dead at the scene. The vehicle had five passengers, but no one was injured during the incident. (Patchogue Patch)
  3. A home fire on Paine Commons in Yaphank injured one person on Wednesday. The fire broke out at 2 p.m. The person was transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. (Patch)
  4. Nearby News: On Wednesday night, a pedestrian was seriously injured on Dare Road in Selden. An 18 years old man was riding his electric bike when a vehicle hit him and fled from the scene. The victim was transported to Stony Brook Hospital. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. (LI News12)

  • Police sought a man who robbed two smoke shops on the same day. The suspect's first stop was at the Nirvana Shop in North Patchogue. Twenty minutes later, he entered the Lucy Smoke Shop and Beer in Shirley and once again demanded cash from a clerk. Both crimes were committed at gunpoint. Take a look at a picture of the suspect.
