Police ID Woman Fatally Struck By SUV In Suffolk

UPDATE: The 73-year-old Patchogue woman was struck in a parking lot on Waverly Avenue just before 7 a.m., Suffolk police said.

PATCHOGUE, NY — A 73-year-old Patchogue woman died after she was struck by an SUV in a parking lot on Waverly Avenue in Patchogue on Tuesday morning, Suffolk police said.

A 30-year-old Patchogue woman was driving a 2010 Kia Sportage through the parking lot of Heatherwood House when the SUV struck Ida Papik just before 7 a.m., according to police.

Papik was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The SUV’s driver was uninjured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
