‘Tis the Giving Season at Greybarn

PATCHOGUE, NY— On behalf of its residents, the Greybarn community recently donated $2,000 to help support the efforts of the annual Kris Kringle Initiative in Patchogue. Greybarn—a unique luxury rental community built by Long Islanders for Long Islanders—continues to fulfill its overarching mission to foster a sense of community to help improve the lives of its residents as well as those in the surrounding area.

“The Kris Kringle event is a true definition of teamwork and community building.” said Michael Loeffler, Greybarn’s Community Director. “Their efforts are an inspiration to us all as the spread of holiday cheer can have such an impact on the lives of so many. We’re proud to support this initiative which aims to bring joy to so many in our communities.”

The Kris Kringle event began almost 20 years ago as an opportunity to bring residents together for a free buffet before Christmas in an effort to raise money through voluntary donations for families in the community facing economic hardship. After a certain amount is reached, Santa, along with community carolers, go to the recipients’ houses with a check that will help them through hard financial times. To identify the recipients, the Kris Kringle team reaches out to local entities throughout the year, such as churches and schools, to identify families whose circumstances match the initiatives objectives of providing support.

“This year‘s Kris Kringle will be harder than any previous years due to the current inflation and remaining COVID-19 issues,” said Mark Miller, organizer of the Kris Kringle events and co-owner of the Harbor Crab Co Restaurant & Marina. “For that reason, we are especially grateful to generous organizations like Greybarn which recently started projects in the Patchogue area and wanted to make a positive impact on this great community by donating $2,000 to our upcoming Kris Kringle efforts.
