Town Demolishes 'Eyesore' Destroyed By Sandy
The home that was badly damaged after the storm over seven years ago was finally demolished last week.

PATCHOGUE, NY - Over seven years after a Patchogue home was severely damaged during the devastating Super Storm Sandy, the abandoned house was finally demolished last Tuesday.
The home on South Breeze Drive, located along the Great South Bay, was one of many that were hit hard during the powerful storm in October 2012. A total of 100,000 homes were destroyed in the storm, including 2,000 that were deemed inhabitable.
As a result, the town of Brookhaven officials decided to take action to officially demolish the home last week. Councilman Neil Foley was on hand for the demolition.

After the demolition was completed, the debris was carted away. Now, the property will be left in its natural state.
"The south shore of Brookhaven was impacted hard by Super Storm Sandy and we are still recovering seven years after that catastrophic event," Foley said. "I thank the Town of Brookhaven Law Department for their efforts to finally rid the neighborhood of this eyesore."
