Village Board Discusses Continuing Revitalization Plans
Summer projects will improve look of the Village as well as safety.

Several on-going revitalization projects in the Village of Patchogue were discussed at the recent board of trustees meeting, highlighted by the continued efforts to improve the exterior and interior condition of several buildings.
According to Dennis Smith, Executive Director of the Patchogue Village Business Improvement District, applications for the Main Street grant, which he said will improve the exterior and interior looks of several buildings, will be filed by June 1.
He also reported that the pedestrian crosswalk located between the Patchogue-Medford Library and the Patchogue Theater for the Performing Arts has been approved for renovations.

"At the last BID meeting, the board approved spending for a lighted crosswalk with accompanying flashing, lighted signs. This would be similar to the setup that is presently located in front of Brookhaven Hospital on Hospital Road. The cost is just under $15,000 and installation will be done by the village department of public works, which is expected to happen by late summer. We hope to make it a lot safer than it is now" Smith said.
Trustee Gerard Crean provided an update on construction for the Clare Rose project.

"The Clare Rose development project has recently gotten their approvals and they will be resuming site development on West Avenue. There has been no indication yet as to when the site foundations will go in but they are starting their work again" Crean said.
In his report, Trustee William Hilton noted that the docks at Mascot Dock would soon be upgraded. The project was delayed due to shipping issues.
Trustee Lori Devlin reported that restoration to the Wynona building and the surrounding property, at 390 Bay Avenue, is ongoing.
"This is probably the last planting under the grant that we received three years ago. We will be planting quite a lot of trees to restore the property" Devlin said.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m.
