Zone change allows bank, retail on East Main Street and Bay Avenue corner
The village board on Monday approved a zone change for the corner of East Main Street and Bay Avenue that will allow a bank and retail stores to locate there.
The board also granted approval to knock down the current three-story building at 72 E. Main St.

Village Mayor Paul Pontieri confirmed that agreements have been made with 7-Eleven and Checkers, as well as a couple of multi-family homes regarding the location.

The village has changed two local codes as the result of public hearings.
The first change will add a four-way stop sign to the intersection of Cedar Grove Street and Jayne Avenue in the interest of public safety.
A Village code change has been made regarding noise by construction work: on Saturdays no noise above 65 decibles is permitted before 8 a.m. in order to give residents an extra hour of sleep. Previously, no noise from construction work was permitted before 7 a.m. on Saturdays. Noise will be permitted at 7 a.m. during the rest of the week.
3 Lake St. still vacant
The property at 3 Lake St. is still boarded up and vacant, with no certificate of occupancy or proposed plans for the building.
The Village of Patchogue evicted all remaining residents of the apartment building on July 13, after declaring it uninhabitable June 30. The village had received several calls the building was overrun with rodents and roaches and found it lacked heat, had several holes in the walls, was vandalized and was littered with shards of glass.
Most residents affected by this summer's ruling have relocated, some aided by the help of local nonprofits such as Help Suffolk, and others have remained in temporary housing shelters.

The Halloween Festival will be held from noon-4 p.m. Oct. 30 on Main Street and Ocean Avenue. The High School Homecoming Parade is also set for that day and will meet in the Church Street parking lot at 11 a.m.
Holiday decorations will go up the first week in November, in time for the Christmas Parade the weekend after Thanksgiving.
Pera Bell will move to the center of town within the next two weeks and will become a music venue/ supper club.
Plaza Media Arts Center has partnered with Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington for the Fall 2010 Film Series, held upstairs at the Brickhouse Brewery. The award-winning film "Winter's Bone" will be shown Nov. 1.
Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts will hold its annual Live in the Lobby benefit at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 4. The event will feature local musicians covering Joni Mitchell songs.
