Students from the Pearl River parochial school will be collaborating with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland.

Saint Margaret School in Pearl River announced that 90 of its students will take the stage at New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall on Thursday, October 30, as part of a collaborative performance with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland.

The excited students from Pearl River’s Catholic elementary school have been preparing for this moment since early September and are being coached by their music teacher, Mrs. Rhona Metrikin and Mr. Joe Lawliss, a parent volunteer.

“The entire St. Margaret School Community is beaming with pride that our students in grades five through eight will be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience to perform on the stage of Carnegie Hall,” said Mrs. Carolyn Slattery, St. Margaret’s Principal.

The Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland was established in 1995 as a peace initiative and is composed of 120 talented young performers from all over Ireland – north and south, and is recognized as one of the most acclaimed youth orchestras Ireland has ever produced.
