LI Woman Charged With Scamming Rockland Resident
Police say she scammed her victim out of $3,000 as a needed payment for a non-existent lottery.

ORANGETOWN, NY —A Long Island woman faces a grand grand larceny charge for a lottery scam in Orangetown. She scammed a person out of thousands of dollars, police said.
According to police, Amina R. Nasir, 23, of Massapequa, convinced an Orangetown resident that they were entered into a lottery. Nasir told the resident that they had to pay her an additional $3,000 to have the chance to win prizes. They did.
Police say there was no lottery and that the Orangetown resident was scammed.

Police arrested Nasir at her home and transported her to Orangetown Police Headquarters, where she was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny. She is being held in the Rockland County Jail on $10,000 bail, and is due back in court on Tuesday.
