2015 Peekskill St. Patrick's Parade Grand Marshal Announced

Peekskill St. Patrick's Committee announces selection of 2015 Grand Marshal & Aides

The Peekskill St. Patrick’s Committee announced aboard the paddle-wheeler River Rose on Saturday, September 6, 2014 their selection of Peekskill resident Kathy McGurty as the 2015 Peekskill St. Patrick’s Parade Grand Marshal.  In addition, the committee also selected Janice Molloy, Peter Kelly, Brian P. Kelly and Kyle Knapp as Aides to the Grand Marshal.  Next year will be the 26th Annual parade and will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2015 at 3pm.

The selections were announced by Committee Chairman Bill Powers and Vice Chairwoman Deb Carlin Polhill during the group’s annual Mary Alice Murphy Half Way to St. Patrick’s Day Memorial Boat Ride and Fundraiser.

McGurty was selected for her dedication to the parade. She has served as the committee’s treasurer, organized the annual St. Patrick’s Mass at Assumption Church, and opened her home to fundraise to cover the expenses associated with the parade.  McGurty will be the third McGurty family member to lead the annual parade; the first was her father-in-law, Dr. John McGurty, Sr., who led the first parade, followed by her husband, Dr. John McGurty, Jr. who led the 10th Annual Peekskill St. Patrick’s parade.

“We are delighted to have such an amazing Grand Marshal and dedicated group of Aides to lead our 2015 parade. They each exemplify the importance of being involved in our community in their own individual ways,” said Chairman Bill Powers.

The Peekskill St. Patrick’s Parade is funded completely through the generosity of the people who attend the group‘s fundraising events, business owners who buy ads in the annual dinner journal and donations from supporters.  Like the committee's Facebook page to keep updated on the group’s other fundraisers and
