Construction Zone Road Rage Leads To 2 Arrests
Police said the charges involve a baseball bat and a child home alone.
CORTLANDT, NY — A road rage incident led to the arrest of two men in Westchester County. State police said troopers responded around 6:40 p.m. July 24 to Oregon Road in the Town of Cortlandt after being called by Rafael V. Bermejo, 44, of Cortlandt, who said a road worker struck his vehicle.
Troopers said their investigation found Bermejo acted erratically and aggressively, disobeyed a construction site flagger's directions and drove through a construction zone.
The flagger — Troy Brooks, 25, of Corning, Steuben County — struck Bermejo's vehicle as he drove through the active work zone causing damage to the vehicle, police said.

Bermejo left the scene to drop his young child off at home — alone — and returned to the construction zone with a baseball bat to threaten workers, authorities said.
Bermejo was charged second-degree menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanors.

Brooks was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanors.
Both men were issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Cortlandt Court Aug. 1.
