Cortlandt Community Swap Day is Sept. 26

The Town of Cortlandt has created an annual event where the community can bring their used or unwanted items and swap them out for something that they can use.

All items are free!

The next Community Swap & Zero Waste Day is Sept. 26 at the Muriel H. Morabito Community Center, 29 West Brook Drive.

The county’s mobile shredder will be there, and the county police department will be collecting old, unwanted medications,

Also, one of Westchester’s most practical charities will be showing up. Furniture Sharehouse serves 10-18 families & individuals each week.

You can donate any item to the nonprofit, but they have a special request: beds.

Furniture Sharehose announced last Wednesday that it had given away its last bed in stock. So if you’re a Cortlandt resident with a bed in good condition to give away, here’s your chance.

2015 Schedule for Cortlandt Swap Day drop offs:
Swap drop off in advance:
Friday, 9/25/15 @ 4 P.M. - 7 P.M.
Saturday, 9/26/15 @ 8:30 A.M. - 11:30 A.M.

Furniture drop off:
Saturday, 9/26/15 @ 9 A.M. - 1 P.M.

In general, Westchester residents are encouraged to donate mattresses and box springs that are in good usable condition (rip, stain and pest free) in Twin, Full and Queen sizes, and adjustable metal bed frames. As many of its clientele live in small walk-up apartments, size and weight restrict what can be distributed.

Items can be brought to the Furniture Sharehouse warehouse during the week by appointment on Wednesdays & Thursdays mornings or on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9:30-11:30am (next warehouse 3rd Saturday is October 17th).
