Cortlandt Town Officials Update Ops In Light Of Coronavirus
Steps the town is taking include home-delivered meals to seniors; suspended programs; staff working from home and more.

CORTLANDT, NY โ Cortlandt town officials have been working with Westchester County Executive George Latimer and the Westchester County Department of Health and Department of Emergency Services to plan and prepare for the new coronavirus outbreak in the community.
Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi declared a local State of Emergency Friday.
Here are some of the other steps town officials have taken:

- All in-person public Town Board, Planning Board, ZBA meetings as well as council and committee meetings were cancelled for the month of March until further notice. The Town is continuing to operate under the emergency declaration, and Town Board meetings will be held as needed in the interim with arrangements for teleconferencing/ videoconferencing or webcasting as available.
- All programs at the Community Center, which includes Senior Center activities, are suspended. The Youth Center as well.
- All town offices within the Town were closed to the public effective Tuesday, March 17, for the protection of the staffers who will be at work, performing necessary/essential functions.
- Residents should phone or email staff rather than come to Town Hall. All numbers and email addresses are available on our website.
- If you must bring paperwork to the Town please call the applicable department and they will provide you with information on how to send in the paperwork.
- Trash collection and other operating functions will continue.
- Gov. Andrew Cuomo has directed all local governments to reduce staff at the office by 50%. The Supervisor and Town Board will be announcing a plan that will include essential staff reporting to Town Hall and will continue to conduct the business of Town government during this time period.
- All payments can be made online. Town Government will be operating but will not have visitors to our offices. If you need assistance please contact the office you need for assistance.
- All Town of Cortlandt Recreation programs are suspended for a period of 30 days. If you are currently registered and enrolled in a Town of Cortlandt Recreation program, you will receive a pro-rated refund or account credit. Registration for spring/summer programs will be accepted online only.
- Nutrition and Meals on Wheels will continue to provide home-delivered meals as scheduled to seniors from our Center.
- The Town is currently identifying all Town employees who can work remotely and will continue to make business continuity a priority.
Town officials continue to be in regular communication with the County, as well as neighboring school districts and other agencies. We will continue to provide updated information as we receive it. Much information is available and continually updated on the website.
"We ask all residents to practice social distancing by staying home, if possible. Lastly, we encourage you to be patient, kind, and tolerant towards one another," Puglisi said. "Please rest assured that the Town is taking action to ensure the health and safety of our staff and residents โ all of you are our top concern! Thank you for your cooperation. We will get through this together."
