Drunk Wrong-way Driver Caused Cortlandt Crash: NY Troopers

Three people were injured, one seriously.

CORTLANDT, NY — A Putnam Valley man who police say caused a serious crash driving the wrong way on Croton Avenue Thursday while drunk has been charged with vehicular assault as well as DWI. Three people were injured, one seriously, police said.

The New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks arrested Kevin Singleton, 32, after responding at 7:05 p.m. to a two-car motor vehicle collision with injuries on Croton Avenue.

Troopers said Singleton was traveling south on Croton Avenue, and entered the northbound lane in his 2013 Ford F150. He struck a northbound 2017 Honda Civic occupied by three people causing injuries to each, one victim suffered serious injuries.

His blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit, police allege.

He faces charges of Vehicular Assault in the 2nd degree, a class E felony, Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd degree, three counts of Assault in the 3rd degree, all class A misdemeanors, and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor.

Singleton did not have to make bail: he was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Cortlandt Court on Thursday.
