The Field Library in Peekskill is proud to present our final visiting poets of the school year, slam legends, Michael Brown and Valerie Lawson!
Look for us during the day in the Peekskill Schools, and then join us at the Field Library at 3:30 sharp for poetry, fun and free refreshments!
Michael Brown and Valerie Lawson are slam legends. Michael R. Brown, author of four books of poetry, was the founding Boston slam master. Twice nominated for Pushcart Prizes, Lawson has won awards for Best Narrative Poem, Female Spoken Word, and shared the award for Best Poetry at the Cambridge Poetry Awards. Lawson’s involvement in Boston area youth slams has included coaching an all-girl team that went to the YouthSpeaks National Slam.
