At the awards ceremony, Peekskill High School junior and Boys Varsity Soccer player Oswald Annang was honored after being named All-Section and All-Section MVP this season. Annang finished tied for second place for most goals scored with 29 goals in Section 1. He had a total of 5 assists, was one of the captains of his team and had four game winning goals. Annang was also named the LOHUD Journal News Boys Soccer Player of the Week from September 28 - October 3, the League MVP and Peekskill Schools’ Fall Sports Player of the Month in September.
“He is an amazing player, who has great technical skill, strength, determination, and leadership,” said Anaang’s Coach, Jonathan Isillo. “More impressively, he is a superb example of a student-athlete. “It is truly an honor to have been chosen as coach of the year for the second year in a row,” Blazejewski said. “Ted and I make a great team and work all year round with the girls. Each year our program is improving and the year round commitment is really starting to pay off.”
“It is really nice when your peers recognize all of the hard work that you are doing,” she added.
Coach Iasillo, who coaches Boys Varsity Soccer at Peekskill, received his Coach of the Year award after his team finished the season at 10-7. There were several players on the team that earned the awards of All-Section, All-Section Honorable Mention, and All-League. He credits his team’s success over the past years due to the Boys’ Soccer program’s positive philosophy. This is his first Coach of the Year award.
“I am very honored to be named our league’s coach of the year,” Iasillo said. “ It has been a pleasure to coach a fine group of young men who exhibit dedication, class, and character both on and off the field. Our soccer program is heading in a positive direction and it is only right that we are recognized for that.”
