Hendrick Hudson Receives Cenergistic Award for Energy Conservation
Conservation program has reaped big rewards

At its October 22 School Board meeting, the Hendrick Hudson School District was recognized by Cenergistic for its successful efforts to conserve energy. Working with a program designed by the technology-powered, data-driven energy conservation company, an Energy Specialist – first, former Assistant Principal Dan Callahan, and more recently, Director of Technology Dr. Mathew Swerdloff – oversees the use of energy at all building levels.
“This energy program is an excellent vehicle to assist our personnel in practicing good stewardship of our resources. The willing participation of virtually every staff person – faculty, administrators, food service, maintenance and custodial workers – adds to our success,” said Joseph E. Hochreiter, Superintendent of Schools.
Charles Fasnacht represented Cenergistic in presenting a plaque to Hochreiter, Swerdloff, Board of Education President MaryPat Briggi, and Assistant Superintendent for Business, Enrique Catalan.

Over a period of 22 months, Hendrick Hudson has already saved enough energy to effectively plant more than 29,614 trees. The program delivers an environmental benefit from significantly reducing the District’s carbon footprint.
