New Inspector at Indian Point Nuclear Facility
The nuclear power plant in Cortlandt has 3 resident inspectors to monitor projects, conduct inspections & interact with the public.
CORTLANDT, NY — The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Andrew Siwy as a resident inspector at the Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan, N.Y. He joins Senior Resident Inspector Brian Haagensen and Resident Inspector Sarah Rich at the Entergy-operated facility. Indian Point has three resident inspectors assigned by the NRC.
“Andrew Siwy’s knowledge, experience and training make him a good addition to the inspection team at Indian Point,” said NRC Region I Administrator Dan Dorman. “Brian, Sarah and Andrew will work together to assure the plant continues to operate safely and adheres to the NRC’s stringent safety requirements.”
Siwy joined the NRC’s Region I office in King of Prussia in 2014 and has completed a rigorous inspector qualification program. Most recently he was a project engineer in the Region’s Division of Reactor Projects. He previously worked as an engineer for Duke Energy in Charlotte, N.C., and as a systems engineer at the Catawba nuclear power plant. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nuclear engineering from Penn State and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of North Carolina.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Indian Point always has three resident inspectors onsite. The NRC announced the naming of a new resident inspector at IPEC – not an additional one. The original version of this report was incorrect. Patch regrets the error.
