Peekskill 18-Year-Old Shoots At Occupied Car Near School: PD

Police said it wasn't a random shooting and that she knew the people in the car.

PEEKSKILL, NY — An 18-year-old Peekskill woman was arrested after being accused of shooting at a car with another woman and her two sons in it.

The City of Peekskill Police Department said Shaynna Session, 18, of Peekskill, was charged Wednesday with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon (loaded firearm) and first-degree reckless endangerment, both felonies.

Police said officers were called to the intersection of Spring and Main streets for a report of shots fired shortly before 4:30 p.m. Jan. 5.

The investigation found that Session fired at least one round at a car that was occupied by a woman and her two sons, police said.

It was determined that Session knew the people in the car, according to authorities, and the shooting was not a random act.

Police said the shooting happened about 500 feet from Oakside Elementary School. Also in the line of fire was the Kiley Youth Center, a city-operated facility for supervised after-school youth activities.

The woman's car was struck by gunfire, police said, but no injuries were reported.

A week later, around 9:15 pm. Wednesday, a Peekskill officer on patrol in the 1000 block of Park Street said he saw Session getting into a parked car. She was arrested without incident.

Session was arraigned in the Peekskill City Court Thursday and released after posting $1,000 bail.
