Peekskill Could Seek Developer For City-Owned Property
The brownfield site is on Lower South Street near Route 9's Louisa Street Exit.

PEEKSKILL, NY โ The Peekskill Common Council could vote soon to ask for developersโ proposals for 11.6 acres of city-owned property on Lower South Street. The site is close to Route 9 and not far from the Hudson River.
The property was once a salvage yard for vehicles and refrigerators, and is a brownfield site, which means the developer would have to be experienced in brownfield remediation or partner with someone who is, the Journal News said.
The city has received state approval for remediation and can offer brownfield tax credits to a developer, though the clock is ticking.
