Parish Priests Self-Quarantine: VIDEO

Anyone who had recent contact with the two parish priests is urged to self-quarantine. Watch their announcement.

PEEKSKILL, NY — Officials at the Archdiocese of New York report that a parish employee of Assumption Parish in Peekskill has tested positive for the new coronavirus. Everyone who had recent contact with the two parish priests is urged to self-quarantine.

The employee is currently undergoing treatment.

The two parish priests at Assumption Parish, Father Esteban Sanchez and Father Carlos Limongi, have quarantined themselves while they wait to be tested for the virus.

"One of our workers here in the rectory was tested last Friday for the coronavirus and it seems that it was positive," said Father Esteban in a video posted on Facebook. "They told us to isolate ourselves for the next two weeks. Our church and our parish house, the rectory, will be closed."

"Those individuals who may have had contact with either Father Sanchez or Father Limongi, especially over this past weekend, are urged to self-isolate until it is determined whether or not they test positive or negative,"archdiocese officials said in a news release. "The parish property, including the church building and rectory, will undergo a deep cleaning by an outside professional company hired by the Archdiocese of New York."
