Underage Drinking Enforcement Operation Hit 12 Cortlandt Stores
State police sent in a 19-year-old volunteer.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Cortlandt barracks conducted an underage drinking enforcement operation in northwestern Westchester County Dec. 30.
Twelve stores were checked for compliance by using a 19-year-old volunteer to purchase alcoholic beverages, under the observation of plain-clothed police officers, supported by uniformed troopers.
Two stores failed to comply with the state’s Alcohol Beverage Control Law.
- Carmen Alvarez, age 33, of Peekskill, an employee of the Citgo Station on Oregon Road, in Cortlandt, was issued an appearance ticket ordering her to appear before the Town of Cortlandt Court Jan. 12.
- Jeremy Dunne, 19, of Bethel, CT, an employee at the Sunoco Station, on Albany Post Road in Cortlandt was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Cortlandt Court Jan. 12.
Both were charged with Prohibited Sale of Alcoholic Beverages to a person under the age of 21, a Class A Misdemeanor.
Another 10 establishments were checked and found to be in compliance with state laws, police said.
The New York State Police, with investigative support provided by the New York State Liquor Authority, routinely conducts underage drinking enforcement operations throughout the state in an effort to curb alcohol abuse and DWI incidents among teenagers.
