Jill Glist, a resident of Pelham Manor, led a talk at the Greenwich Connecticut Senior Center last Friday, October 19th. The talk was titled: “Because You Are Sick of Asking Your Kids,” and was an informative talk aimed at showing seniors the many ways using a personal assistant can help them. Ms. Glist’s company, Lambent Services, provides people with part-time personal assistants in their homes and home offices and has its Westchester/Fairfield branch office in Dobbs Ferry.
Jill Glist, Geraldine Sheridan, the director of the Westchester/Fairfield office, and two Lambent assistants Beth Ralston and Emily Fink., described to the seniors how a personal assistant might help them. They informed the seniors that an assistant can help them with; teaching basic computer skills, online dating, internet shopping, learning Skype (free phone calls to children!), following grandchildren online, filing papers, buying gifts, sending out holiday cards, shopping trips, driving you where you want to go, food shopping, downsizing for a move, organizing closets, submitting medical claims, picking up prescriptions and best off all, listening. Seniors and busy individuals of all ages can hire a Lambent assistant for as little as three hours.
During the question and answer that followed one participant asked if an assistant could drive them places at night while another senior asked if an assistant could set up a computer for them. The answer to both was a big yes!
