Cornelia Horsford: Early Preservationist in America’s Golden Age of Gardens

Cultural landscape historian Mac Griswold discusses the

life and work of early house and garden preservationist Cornelia Horsford and

the history of her family’s centuries-old home on Shelter Island, Sylvester

Manor. Griswold is the author most recently of The Manor: Three Centuries at a

Slave Plantation on Long island as well as The Golden Age of American Gardens.

She is the Director of Archival Research for the Sylvester Manor Project. Book signing
