
PELHAM, NY — In April 2018, New York's private sector job count hit a new, all-time employment high, according to preliminary figures released this week by the State Department of Labor. The biggest job growth was in educational services, health services, professional and business services.
The manufacturing sector continued to decline.
“In April 2018, New York State’s labor market continued to grow as we added 6,700 private sector jobs to reach a new, all-time high," said Bohdan M. Wynnyk, Director of the New York State Department of Labor’s Division of Research and Statistics. "In addition, the statewide unemployment rate remained at its lowest level since before the recession."

New York’s statewide unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.6% in April 2018. This unemployment rate matches New York State’s lowest level since July 2007.
