Jobless Rates Lower Than 2017 In All Hudson Valley Counties
NY Labor officials said November 2018 was better across the state than 12 months before.

PELHAM, NY — Dutchess and Putnam were among the counties with the lowest jobless rates in November, according to Labor Department data released last week. In fact, officials reported that all counties, including Orange, Rockland, Ulster and Westchester, had lower unemployment rates than the year before.
Employment grew in all the lower Hudson Valley's metro areas in the 12-month period.
- Dutchess-Putnam dropped to 3.0 percent from 4.2 percent unemployment
- Kingston dropped to 3.1 percent from a 4.5 percent jobless rate.
- Orange-Rockland-Westchester dropped to 3.2 percent from 4.5 percent unemployment.

The counties in New York State with the lowest unemployment rates in November 2018 include:
- Columbia County (2.6%)
- Dutchess County (2.9%)
- Nassau County (2.9%)
- Saratoga County (2.9%)
- Seneca County (2.9%)
- Tompkins County (2.9%)
- Albany County (3.0%)
- Putnam County (3.0%)
- Yates County (3.0%)
The State’s area unemployment rates rely in part on the results of the Current Population Survey, which contacts approximately 3,100 households in New York State each month.
