Warm Temps to Melt the Snow... Cold Temps to Freeze It

Friday’s snow storm dumped a few inches on communities throughout Westchester County, and while temperatures have risen today, they will drop due to an “approaching cold front,” according to forecasters.

Look for temperatures to climb into the 40s during the day on Saturday, but they will not get that high again until at least Tuesday for most of the county.

“The milder temperatures should melt most… if not all, of the snow that fell on Friday,“ writes Bill Potter of HudsonValleyWeather.com. “But despite the milder temperatures, Saturday’s weather looks to be hampered by an approaching cold front. The front will touch off some scattered showers during the mid to late afternoon hours…”

• HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON - 5.0 (12:15 AM 3/21)
• WHITE PLAINS - 4.8 (10:30 PM 3/20)
• YONKERS - 4.3 (12:05 AM 3/21)
• LARCHMONT - 4.2 ((8:30 PM 3/20)
• SHRUB OAK - 3.5 (7:50 AM 3/21)
• PEEKSKILL - 2.9 (5:25 AM 3/21)

Winds out of the North are the main culprit and will send chills down into the low-20s and teens at night over the next couple of days.

“Behind the cold front… a strong NW wind kicks up, and we’ll see the temperatures begin to tumble yet again,” Potter continues. “Things really start to feel awful on Sunday… as highs will struggle to reach 32 degrees, and the wind howls out of the northwest. That will generate wind chills in the teens and 20s.”
