Left Turn Just Got Easier at Busy Intersection

Jacobs works with Mangano to get new light at Manetto Hill Road and Washington Avenue.

The long awaited left-turn signal at the intersection of Manetto Hill Road and Washington Avenue is reality.

The recent installation has been a the result of a long-fought fight by Nassau Legislator Judy Jacobs. Nassau County officials agreed to install the turn signal at the troublesome corner after years of requests from Jacobs.

"This is an indication of bi-partisanship working at it's best," said Jacobs.

County Executive Ed Mangano worked with Jacobs to have the turn signal installed at the confusing intersection. While southbound on Manetto Hill Road, drivers confront an oddly shaped intersection in order to turn left onto Washington Avenue. For years, Plainview residents have complained that the intersection is dangerous and confusing.

"The left turn signal obtain this sgnal which will surely stop many accidents and ensure a safer environment for all who use the intersection," said Jacobs.  "I am very pleased that by working together, the county executive and myself were able to secure this important safety addition to our community."

Washington Avenue is a busy roadway that is the primary route to Plainview-JFK High School, Mattlin Middle School, the Atria Senior Living Facility, and the Plainview/Old Bethpage Community Park.
