Police: Woman Drove Drunk With 2 Kids in Car

The 34-year-old was arrested Friday evening in East Norwich, police say.

A 34-year-old Port Washington woman faces felony DWI charges after police say she was intoxicated while driving her 2015 Cadillac Escalade with two children in the vehicle Friday evening.

According to police, Second Precinct officers responded to a call for a disturbance at Northern Boulevard and Oyster Bay Road in East Norwich at about 6:47 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found Whitney K. Gold outside her Cadillac engaged in a verbal argument with a female friend, police said.

Two children-a 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy-were in the car and officers determined that Gold had been driving the vehicle while intoxicated, police said.

Gold was arrested and the children were released to a family member at the scene.

Gold is charged with two counts of aggravated DWI with a child passenger-a felony under Leandra’s Law-DWI, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

She will be arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
