Briarcliff High School Students Organize Shoe Drive
The students cleaned out their own closets and encouraged their friends to do the same to collect shoes for donation.

Briarcliff High School’s World of Difference Club members cleaned out their own closets and encouraged peers to do the same, collecting more than 60 pairs of shoes in the process that will be passed along to ShoeBox Recycling, an organization that distributes the gently worn soles across the globe.
“Old shoes can just sit in our closets,” senior and club Co-President Rachel Dworkin said in a press release. “We have collected so many pairs of shoes, and they will now go to someone who really needs them.”
World of Difference Club advisor Melissa Carnahan said the group has been a part of the middle and high school co-curricular program for 13 years, encouraging team-building activities and community service.

This year, club members also participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk and plan to volunteer at the Ossining Food Pantry during the holiday season.
But the simple act of donating old shoes is a significant one, as the students collected a range of shoes from tap dancing shoes to soccer cleats.
