Briarcliff Manor Police Blotter: Anonymous Death Threat; Car Splits Con Ed Pole

The following information was supplied by the police department. When arrests are noted, they do not indicate a conviction.

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the  from December 19 — 25, 2011.

Saturday, Dec. 24

12:07 p.m. — Police responded to the scene of an accident in the southbound lanes of Route 9A where they reported a Honda Accord had hit an exit sign, knocking it over. The driver, a 30-year-old man, was not injured, but the car involved was damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

Friday, Dec. 23

9:01 p.m. — Police performed a traffic stop on Route 9A after the license plate reader picked up a violation. A 29-year-old Beacon woman was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended registration due to an insurance lapse. The car was impounded and the woman was released on $50 bail with a summons.

4:51 p.m. — An Oak Road resident called police and stated her neighbor's children were playing football on her property. She stated the youths had been intentionally throwing their ball onto her property even though they knew she didn't like it. The responding officer spoke with the youths and reported no further action was necessary.

1:39 p.m. — Police received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle accident on Scarborough Road. Responding officers reported a Jeep Cherokee, driven by a 19-year-old village resident, had hit a Con Edison pole on the street, causing it to split in half. The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and the car was towed from the scene. Con Edison responded to the scene to fix the pole.

Thursday, Dec. 22

9:59 p.m. — A party came into police headquarters and reported an unknown person had forged two checks in the name of a local business. The case was referred to the detective.

4:25 p.m. — An employee of B&J Car Wash on South Highland Avenue called police and reported he was the target of aggressive behavior by a man who owns the neighboring fenced-off property. The caller said he had thrown a cup over the fence onto the property and was yelled at by the owner. He stated he apologized and picked up the cup, but the man continued to yell obscene things and act aggressively. He stated he wanted to report the incident for the record, but was not seeking any further action at this time.

2:58 p.m. — A Colby Lane resident informed police that his signature had been forged on a check from his J.P. Morgan Chase checking account totaling $2,951 two days prior. Police filed a report of the alleged forgery and forwarded the information to the detective and bank security.

Wednesday, Dec. 21

7:43 p.m. — A Horsechesnut Road resident told police she had gotten into a verbal altercation with her mother, who had in turn slapped her in the face. The caller stated she did not want to press charges and the dispute was resolved for the night.

5:25 p.m. — A Cherry Hill Court resident called 911 and reported she had received a phone call from an unknown male who had threatened to kill her. She contacted Verizon to see if they could identify who placed the call and police responded to the scene. Responding police reported the woman said the man had said he would bash her head in and kill her. A report of the incident was filed.

Tuesday, Dec. 20

10:24 p.m. — A South State Road resident reported she found a box of jewelry that did not belong to her inside her home. The box was turned over to the detective for investigation.

Monday, Dec. 19

8:10 p.m. — Police received a report of an odor of smoke at a Woodsford Bend residence. The responded to the scene, where they reported food had been left on the stove. 

12:15 p.m. — Police received a call from the manager of  on South Highland Avenue, who reported there was a suspicious vehicle in the diner's parking lot. He told police the car's door was open with a woman's pocketbook on seat. The responding police offier reported he found the car's driver, who corrected the situation.
