Briarcliff Manor Police Blotter: Car Catches Fire; Deer Hits Vehicle

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the Briarcliff Manor Police Department from Dec. 23, 2012 to Jan. 6, 2013.
Sunday, Jan. 6
2:37 a.m. — Police responded to the scene of an accident in the northbound lanes Route 9A, where a 20-year-old Ossining woman, had struck a tree. The woman complained of pain at the scene and was transported to Westchester Medical Center.

Friday, Jan. 4
11:56 a.m. — An Old Briarcliff Road resident reported a burglary. Read more here.

Thursday, Jan. 3
11:34 p.m. — Police stopped a vehicle on Route 9 and arrested the driver, a 44-year-old Nanuet woman, for allegedly driving a vehicle with a suspended registration. She was processed and released on $100 cash bail and is due in Village Court on January 23.
1:16 p.m. — A Sleepy Hollow Road resident reported suspecting the family's caregiver had conducted an unauthorized $11,850 charge on the homeowner's account. Briarcliff Manor Police said the case fell in Mount Pleasant Police's jurisdiction and referred the matter.
Wednesday, Jan. 2
1:13 p.m. — Police responded to a rear-end accident at the intersection of Pleasantville and Mulberry Roads. One person was injured at the scene, but refused medical attention, according to police.
Tuesday, Jan. 1
10:50 a.m. — Police stopped a vehicle on Route 9 and arrested the driver, a 19-year-old Sleepy Hollow resident, for allegedly driving a vehicle with an expired temporary inspection and a suspended driver's license. The man was processed and released on $100 cash bail and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday on a charge of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree.
Sunday, Dec. 30
3:01 p.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 9A and North State Road, where one vehicle reportedly struck a second as it turned onto the road from North State Road.
10:34 a.m. — A Long Hill Road West resident reported damage to both a mailbox and fire hydrant on the street. The complainant said it appeared a vehicle slid on ice and hit both objects and left the scene. Police reported there was some debris left behind at the scene and referred the case to the detective.
Friday, Dec. 28.
7:07 p.m. — A resident went into police headquarters and reported that she had received "somewhat harassing" phone calls from an Ossining resident. Police advised the woman not to answer her phone in the future and to save the harassing messages. The detective is following up.
11:00 am. — A Buckhout Road resident notified police that sometime after 10 a.m. the day prior, someone had entered her bedroom and taken her wallet, which contained approximately $1,000 in cash. She also said other items, including a computer, engagement ring, men's bracelet and New York State ID were missing. The detective is investigating the alleged larceny.
Thursday, Dec. 27
4:42 p.m. — Police responded to the scene of a three-car accident at the intersection of Route 9A and Chappaqua Road. No further information was immediately available.
Wednesday, Dec. 26
6:00 p.m. — Police dispatched the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department to Chappaqua Road, where a car had apparently gone up in flames for an unknown reason just after it was parked. Police said no one was injured and the 2009 Nissan Sentra's fire was put out.
3:12 p.m. — A Hemlock Road resident reported the home's holiday lights had been damaged overnight. Police are investigating.
Monday, Dec. 24
3:42 p.m. — A Sleepy Hollow resident called police and reported that while he was driving on Route 9 near the Sleepy Hollow Country Club, a deer had run into the road and struck his car. Responding police reported the deer could not be located.
Saturday, Dec. 22
3:30 p.m. — Police received a 911 call from a North State Road resident who reported she was engaged in a verbal dispute with a neighbor. Read more here.
