Briarcliff Manor Police Blotter: Pellet Guns Fired; Dispute Over Cat Adoption

The following information was supplied by the police department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the  from Jan. 16 — 22, 2012.

Sunday, Jan. 22

10:43 p.m. — Police responded to an Old Briarcliff Road home and reported two people were arguing after a party spit into the fireplace. The argument escalated and led to the two people spitting at each other and grabbing each other. Neither party was injured. A report of the distrurbance was filed.

8:55 p.m. — A North State Road resident notified police that she and her son had arrived home to their apartment after being away for the weekend and noticed the apartment lights were on and the top front door lock was locked, which was unusual. She stated they were unable to gain entry into the home, so her son entered through the balcony. Once inside, the residents said the door's chain was also done up and it appeared someone had been inside the son's room. He said his air rifle was missing and his BBs were out in a bag, while he usually keeps them inside a tin. The residents were given a lost and stolen form to complete. Police filed a report.

11:36 a.m. — A Nichols Place resident reported his mailbox has been stolen overnight. Police also found other mailboxes missing from the area. Read more .

Saturday, Jan. 21

9:37 p.m. — Police responded to a Shadowtree Lane residence after receiving a report of a domestic dispute. A 42-year-old Briarcliff Manor man was arrested and brought to police headquarters. He was arraigned and charged with Assault in the Third Degree and Menacing in the Second Degree. The judge issued a temporary order of protection in the case. He was then released on his own recognizance and is due back in court today.

8:30 p.m. — Police were dispatched to Matthes Road, where a resident reported seeing two males firing pellet guns. The resident described the suspects to police and said he saw one of the males hiding in the bushes across the street. He then stated the suspects fled the area and police followed their footprints in the snow into the Pleasantville Road business district. The two suspects were asked to leave once police located them. The youths, 14-year-old Briarcliff Manor residents, were taken to police headquarters, where police found two pellet guns on them and contacted the youths parents.

Friday, Jan. 20

8:10 p.m. — A Matthes Road resident reported finding a bag with feces on her front porch. She stated unknown subjects had placed a paper bag with feces and lit it on fire before leaving the scene. A report was taken.

Thursday, Jan. 19

3:02 p.m. — A resident came into headquarters with her daughter, a student at . She reported her daughter's cell phone had been stolen at the school. The woman stated the phone had been returned by the principal, but said she wishes to press charges against the suspect. She stated another student witnessed the alleged larceny. The case was passed along to the detective.

9:16 a.m. — A village resident came into police headquarters and reported she was having a dispute with a man who adopted two cats from her cat squad. She stated the man had not held the terms of the agreement. She later said she was scheduled to meet the man on Monday, Jan. 23 and would call police if the two parties continued to have a disagreement.

8:15 a.m. — Police responded to the scene of a two-car auto accident on Pine Road, where they reported one car stopped for a bus was struck from behind by a second car. Both parties reported no damage to their vehicles. One driver late came into police headquarters and reported she had some neck pain since the accident and asked it be noted for the record.

Monday, Jan. 16

2:20 p.m. — A Hollowtree Road resident called police and reported his residence's mailbox had been ripped out of the ground and placed on the hood of his car by an unknown person overnight. A report of the criminal mischief was filed.

11:06 a.m. — A Long Hill Road West resident called police and reported her house had been egged overnight. Police filed a report of the criminal mischief.
