Bronx Man Accused of Injuring 2 Officers Arraigned
The officers had responded to reports of drag racing and tried to question the defendant.

The Bronx man arrested in February who police said injured two officers after drag racing was arraigned Thursday.
Acting Westchester County District Attorney James A McCarty said Nathan Irizarry, 38, of Commonwealth Avenue, was charged with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of aggravated assault upon a police officer and two counts of assault on a police officer.
Sergeant Michael McGuinn and Officer Luke OIiveri responded November 14, 2015 around 12:30 a.m. to Route 117 near Rockefeller State Park because of reports of drag racing taking place.

The officers said they tried to stop a car being driven by Irizarry but he pulled away at a high rate of speed.
About 20 minutes later, the officers said they encountered Irizarry’s car on Route 117.

When they stopped the car and tried to remove the defendant from it, the officers said Irizarry put the vehicle in reverse at a fast speed.
One officer was dragged about 50 yards and struck the second officer who was standing on the roadway.
McCarty said their injuries were serious and have prevented the officers from returning to duty.
Irizarry was arrested February 17, 2016.
He pled not guilty and his bail remains in place.
Irizarry’s next court date is May 19, 2016.
